1 Summer, 50 Concerts

During the school year, I see a lot of concerts. Two in a day is not uncommon for me; a couple times, I’ve even managed to cram three into a day. And I don’t see why that should change just because it’s summer and most professional musicians have fled to festivals in the wilderness.

To use up all the extra time I’d usually spend studying in the library, I’m embarking on a daring and ill-advised mission. There are almost exactly three months between when my summer starts and ends. In those three months, I’m determined to see fifty concerts and chronicle them on this blog.

A couple things you may be wondering:

Where are you going to see these concerts? I’ll be in NYC for the majority of the summer, with occasional excursions elsewhere. Venue-wise, I’m willing to go anywhere for a good concert, from thousand-seat symphony halls to jazz clubs to Central Park.

What kinds of concerts are you going to see? In short, I’ll be picking what I think I’m most likely to enjoy. That means mostly classical, some jazz, maybe a popular artist here or there. No real rhyme or reason to it, sort of whatever I feel like.

That’s a lot of concerts, isn’t it? Yes. I’m crazy, I know. But I’m not going to get student ticket prices forever, so I might as well take advantage while I can :)

Join me as I take the will call lines of New York by storm. This is 1 Summer, 50 Concerts.
